The Andes Race has consolidated as one of the main trail races in Peru and one of the most difficult in South America. It has four distances and these start from Huarán (100K), Lares (60K), Huacawasi (30K) and Willoc (13K), having as the Finish Line for all their distances the mythical Inka town of Ollantaytambo. This trail race in Peru, has been thought and designed with the aim of reaching a wide audience of participants, where both experienced and beginners can enjoy the mountains located in what was the Empire of the Inkas and the cradle of the Chaskis, the ancient messengers of the Empire and long distance runners.

Due to the altitude at which it is performed and the combination of distance and accumulated positive elevation gain (sum of all ascents) obtained during the route, the 100K distance could be considered one of the toughest trail races in Peru, South America and perhaps the world, having a positive slope that exceeds four thousand meters.

On August 28th and 29th, its sixth edition will be held and, as in previous years, it hopes to consolidate itself as the Peruvian trail race with the greatest international projection due to the number of international participants that it summons and especially because of the place where it takes place, Cusco. In addition to this, for the fourth consecutive year it is the date of the National Trail Championship, where the best trail runners are called by the Peruvian Athletics Federation to make up the selection of trail and mountain Team.

This race, which covers almost the entire stretch of Qhapaq Ñan or Inka Trail (60% of the 100K route and 100% of the 60K-30K-13K routes) from the Lares to Ollantaytambo route, is not only attractive due to its breathtaking landscapes and its challenging route, but because it is the perfect excuse to get to know Cusco and its attractions. The organization aims to develop a new type of tourism through sports tourism and position Peru as a destination for trail running.

As in 2019, Andes Race S.A.C. will be exclusively producing its second Special for Movistar Deportes, where we will show everything about the competition and the stories behind it.

We thank the Peruvian Athletics Federation, the Regional Government of Cusco, the Ollantaytambo District Municipality and the Lares District, as well as the brands that support us to carry out this event.
