A este distrito de la provincia de Urubamba se llega por la carretera asfaltada Chinchero &#8211; Urubamba, y tambi\u00e9n por v\u00eda f\u00e9rrea (68 Kms.). Se encuentra a 2,700 metros de altura, y tal como lo hemos se\u00f1alado, tanto su dise\u00f1o como las bases de la mayor\u00eda de sus edificaciones corresponden a la \u00e9poca del Incario.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El complejo arqueol\u00f3gico de Ollantaytambo fue un estrat\u00e9gico centro militar, religioso y agr\u00edcola. El escenario arquitect\u00f3nico es de excepcional inter\u00e9s por el tama\u00f1o, estilo y originalidad de sus edificios.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El origen del nombre tiene varios enfoques. De acuerdo a la lengua aymara, Ollantaytambo deriva del vocablo <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ulla-nta-wi<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, que quiere decir &#8220;lugar para ver hacia abajo&#8221;; el t\u00e9rmino tambo, es a\u00f1adido posteriormente.
